This article discusses the importance of STEM education.
From accessing all kinds of information on the Internet to the introduction of new intuitive smart devices, technology has always been the cornerstone of many human achievements.
Technology is constantly and rapidly changing the way we interact and understand our world and future. The way people live, work, play, and learn will inevitably change. It's no surprise that today's learning tools will be obsolete within the next 20 years.
The need for a modern, practical approach to educating young people has never been greater. Children today need to interact, explore, learn and play with technology with educational toys to prepare them for tomorrow's new future.
But where should we start?
Launched by the National Science Foundation, STEM education is an educational approach aimed at bringing together the four disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics into a cross-curricular approach to learning.
Practicing STEM education early has many benefits and teaches children important practical life skills. Concepts include critical thinking; a positive attitude towards failure; increased creativity; resilience to continue problem solving; and logical problem solving.
One of the greatest benefits of STEM is that it connects school academics to future career prospects, all in a global context. A Google search for "best future career options" reveals that over 70% of the mentioned jobs are tech related.
STEM also enhances children's creativity and drives new ideas and innovations. Most of his STEM activities are designed to create a positive and safe environment where children can try again if they fail. This allows children to use failure as a learning exercise, building confidence and resilience in problem solving.
Through experimentation and teamwork, children learn how to work together and feel safe in a team-oriented environment. The knowledge and skills they bring home can be practically applied in the real world, allowing them to embrace new technologies with confidence rather than hesitation. All of this helps children adapt to the future of technology.
Simply put, STEM education is about letting kids experiment with building simple inventions using real hardware and software components. This allows for a student-centered learning environment in which students can role-play as researchers and engineers, solving problems and developing evidence- and research-based explanations.
A great way to introduce children to STEM education is to play with robots. Almost every child who sees a robot toy for the first time instinctively wants to learn more about it and play with it. There are many excellent STEM educational robots on the market. For example, the Photon robot is an educational toy designed to spark curiosity through basic block-based visual programming.
By playing with educational robots, children can explore possibilities, get excited about trying new things, tinker with hands-on activities, and practice complex problem-solving skills.
The advantage of using educational robots lies in the interactive interactions children make. Children learn how to program basic programming functions with robots. Coding with robots is useful because it physically demonstrates the application of programming through visible movement. Children can visually see their code come to life.
