Here are 4 ways to help you resist the urge to smoke when a craving strikes.
Tip 1: Go beyond your desires
Think of cigarettes as crutches. You used to lean on these crutches all the time, but soon you won't be able to walk without them. The important thing to learn is that theyl quickly regain strength as soon as you walk on your feet again. It may be a little-known fact, but about half of what a smoker inhales from a cigarette is pure air. The next time you are hit with a craving, take a deep breath and relax. You will soon be able to go beyond your desires and move forward refreshed.
Tip 2: All the reasons to quit
Why do you want to quit? Do you have children? Do you want to live to see your grandchildren? Tired of smelling? Whatever the reason, write it down. Record how you are feeling each day and write your reasons for quitting in bold on the first entry list. And list things like health reasons, inconvenience, bad breath, expense, or other reasons, and make the list as long as possible. Also, list how you will feel when you quit the habit.
Tip 3: The good, the bad and the ugly
Once you have completed your list of reasons for wanting to quit and how you will feel after quitting, make a list of the consequences of not quitting. Do other smokers in your family get cancer? Have they died? Do they have to speak through a hole in their neck? Can you be unable to pay off debt due to buying cigarettes? Whatever the outcome, be sure to list them all. As above, list the results of quitting smoking (good results, of course). Please look forward to it.
Tip 4: Break time!
Most smokers will agree: Cigarettes are a break. When you quit smoking, take a break and do something else. Eat some fruit, drink some juice, go for a walk. This is very important as changes occur in the body that expel the accumulated toxins. Fruit helps this process in many ways.
I wish you good luck!
