Cook Like a Chef! 4 Basic Cooking Methods You Should Know

When cooking from recipes, it is important to understand the different cooking methods. There are several terms for different types of dishes, such as:

Grilled

If you need to bake something in a recipe, it usually means that you need to cook it on an open flame or heat. Grilling can be done with charcoal or gas (for example, on the grill), or with some kind of grill on the stove burner.

Broiled

Broiled means cooking something by exposing it directly to a heat source such as a flame or element. Most ovens have a "broil" setting that heats the items above the oven rather than the items below it. Normally, when baking food in the oven, it should be placed on the top rack so that it is exposed to the proper heat.

Frying vs Deep Frying

Both frying foods and deep-frying foods are cooked in a similar process, but each method is slightly different.

Frying food can be prepared using any heat source, including an open flame or stove element. Heat oil and butter and cook the food with that heat.

Deep frying foods, on the other hand, also use oil, in which case the food is completely soaked in oil. Deep frying foods are used in foods such as french fries, chicken bread, and donuts. However, handling boiling oil can be dangerous and requires proper equipment and safety precautions.

Sauteing

Sauteing involves rapidly cooking food with a small amount of fat. Similar to frying, but with less fat and a shorter cooking time, it has a stronger flavor than frying.

Knowing the meaning of the various terms will make planning easier when you follow the recipe. We know the necessary equipment and materials that are unique to each method.
